My practice is fueled by a genuine passion for helping others and a deep-seated curiosity about the intricacies of human nature. I am fascinated by the unique stories we carry and how our experiences shape our worldview. Central to my work is the belief that relationships are the foundation of our well-being. I place an emphasis on understanding the formative relationships in our early lives, as these connections create the foundation that influences how we show up in our current friendships, partnerships, and even our relationship with ourselves. By exploring these roots, we can begin to foster more secure, fulfilling connections today.

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker Associate (LICSWA) committed to providing evidence-based, compassionate care. My academic foundation began at Gonzaga University, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, followed by my Master of Social Work from Boise State University.

I aim to create a deep connection with clients built on respect, dignity, playfulness and humor. I draw from several modalities to tailor our sessions to your specific needs and my overall philosophy is rooted in Attachment Theory. I frequently utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness practice. Whatever you are carrying, I am here to listen, to wonder with you, and to help you find the clarity and resilience you deserve.

In my personal time I enjoy yoga, cuddling with my dogs, horticulture, exploring botanic gardens, glamping, and spending time with my husband, adult children, and new grandchild.

Q&A with Shavon

1.) Some therapists are more comfortable addressing the immediate problem, while others want to focus on the deeper issue. Which are you?

I believe in meeting clients where they are on their path towards clarity and contentment in life. My hope is that, over time, clients become comfortable delving into deeper issues to understand the underlying themes affecting well-being and leading to lasting improvement.

2.) Do you tend to lead the session, or follow my lead?

I am comfortable with either approach and understand each individual is different and will need different things from the therapeutic process. However, I also feel it is important to be an active participant in therapy and encourage clients to take the difficult behavioral steps towards a life aligned with their values.

3.) What are your strengths as a therapist?

I am playful by nature and truly believe in the power of play and humor to build connection and create felt safety. My genuine curiosity about the human experience translates into my sessions with clients as a sincere interest in their lives and well-being.

4.) If you had one superpower, what would it be and why?

Teleportation!! I love traveling and experiencing new things, but do not enjoy the time and expense of air travel. If I could teleport to any destination of my choosing for a long weekend I would be gone all the time!

5.) What makes you laugh?

I can laugh at just about anything! I love corny jokes and can have a dark sense of humor when appropriate. I also have two Boston Terriers– the “clowns of the dog world”-who are my best friends and make me laugh every day.

6.) Who would you have dinner with, dead or alive?

I absolutely love horticulture and one of my plant heroes is Monty Don. I would love the opportunity to have dinner with Monty in his garden in England.
