Just like seasons pass us by we must understand that individuals also go through seasons of change, renewal, and healing. Seeking therapy is a brave and at the same time it can feel like a very vulnerable step because it is. Perhaps what brings you to therapy is because you feel as something is broken in your life, relationships feel disconnected, or you feel as you are reexperiencing a haunting memory from your past, or your emotions are overwhelming. You might feel restless from a wound that has not fully healed. Just know that you are not alone, and you do not have to stay stuck and more importantly you do not have to heal on your own.
My first goal in therapy apart for you as the client creating your own goals is for us to work together and truly build a strong relationship in which you feel comfortable sharing such important life details about yourself with me. I will listen carefully to your needs and hopes and together we will develop a treatment plan. My goal for each client is for them to be able to improve their relationship with themselves, develop skills that help them overcome adversity, and life a full healthy life. I believe one of my greatest strengths is being able to connect with my clients.
I approach therapy from an integrative framework approach as no client is alike. I typically use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral, Person-Centered therapy, and EMDR. I use EMDR for those who have experienced trauma and or other distressing life events. It is important to understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behavior are influenced by how we perceive our present circumstance. Through our sessions, you will learn to be empowered and increase your ability to have compassion for yourself which is essential to your healing.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my fur babies or attempting another DIY home improvement job that I know might not get completed or someone will need to come to my rescue. I love to try new restaurants as well as visit new cities. If I could eat a charcuterie board every day I probably would!

Q&A with Isabel
1.) Some therapists are more comfortable addressing the immediate problem, while others want to focus on the deeper issue. Which are you?
Therapy can be overwhelming at first for some clients which is why I am okay with addressing the immediate problem at hand. For some, this approach might be enough but if the problem persists then it would be important to work together to focus on the deeper issue.
2.) Do you tend to lead the session, or follow my lead?
Therapy sessions are your time to express yourself in however you wish which is why I follow your lead. There may be times in where I might need to be more direct during sessions, but I will always ask for your permission. You are the expert in your life which is why I believe I am more of a guide throughout your healing.
3.) What are your strengths as a therapist?
I believe one of my biggest strengths as a therapist is being able to connect with my clients. I recognize that is not easy telling someone some of your most vulnerable memories that you have experienced. To be able to get access to a client’s world view is a privilege that I recognize that I hold.
4.) If you had one superpower, what would it be and why?
When I think about this question, at first what comes to mind is to be a “mind reader” because imagine how easier my job would become! But if I really had to choose, I would go with “teleportation” because how exciting would it be to have breakfast in Mexico and then have dinner in Europe without paying those flight prices!
5.) What makes you laugh?
I feel I can laugh about everything, but I truly enjoy watching silly cat videos and at times some sarcastic humor.
6.) Who would you have dinner with, dead or alive?
I would love to have a meal again with my godmother who has passed. She was always a joy to be around as well as her amazing guidance that she would give me throughout the years. I would also like to have dinner with Carl Rogers and Daddy Yankee.
