Hello and welcome! Congratulations on taking this important step towards improving your well being and the relationships that you have with the loved ones in your life.

As a therapist, it is my intention to convey to you a positive and supportive atmosphere in which to explore the issues that bring you to therapy. I aspire to create a safe and welcoming environment that is free of judgment. I collaborate with my clients to work on the concerns that are important to them. I focus on helping individuals and couples visualize their desired future and then help them to identify the steps to take to achieve their vision. I work alongside clients to help them develop their strengths and inner resources to enable success. I stand firmly in support of the LGBTQIA+ community and their families.

My therapeutic approach is influenced by training in solution focused brief therapy, Gottman, and mindfulness. I received my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate.

In my free time, I enjoy walks in my neighborhood, hiking, kayaking, Zumba, gardening, travel, and socializing with my friends and my two young-adult kids.

Q&A with Melina

1.) Some therapists are more comfortable addressing the immediate problem, while others want to focus on the deeper issue. Which are you?

I like to focus on the immediate problem to start with, in hopes of finding some relief in the current symptoms.

2.) Do you tend to lead the session, or follow my lead?

I generally like to follow your lead to ensure that we’re working on what’s most important to you every session. At times I will suggest an approach or ask about a previous issue, and you are always welcome to let me know whether this is something that you desire to work on or not.

3.) What are your strengths as a therapist?

I am very positive and supportive. I am welcoming and non-judgmental, and will endeavor to ensure a safe and collaborative environment.

4.) If you had one superpower, what would it be and why?

I would love to be able to speed up and slow down time at will, so that I can make chores go by in a flash and spend more time enjoying the fun things in my life.

5.) What makes you laugh?

All sorts of things – I laugh very easily and am a very smiley person!

6.) Who would you have dinner with, dead or alive?

Oprah!
