Seeking personal growth is courageous, vulnerable and something to be celebrated, even though it may be hard. I would be honored to hear your story and work alongside you to imagine and build a new way of being, one step at a time. Sometimes we find ourselves out of balance, struggling with a relationship, self-doubt, communication troubles, trauma, or adjustments brought on by new life phases. These experiences can leave us hurting and feeling empty and alone, and can spur us to seek help and relief.

Whatever you are feeling today, therapy is a safe place for all parts of you to be welcomed, seen, respected, and understood. My counseling approach is positive, empowering, and growth-oriented. You already have many skills and strengths, and I like to identify and use these to help you grow.

My therapeutic approach is influenced by training in Solution-Focused Therapy, Positive Psychology, and Substance Use Counseling. I received my Bachelor’s degree from Washington State University in Social Services before starting my Master of Social Work from Capella University. I am a certified Substance Use Disorder provider and am working towards licensure as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker.

In my free time, I enjoy time with my two children and our little zoo of animals. My passions outside of work include stand up paddle boarding, swimming laps at the gym, walking the family dog, or going on hikes in our great PNW.

Q&A with Katie

1.) Some therapists are more comfortable addressing the immediate problem, while others want to focus on the deeper issue. Which are you?

As a therapist I find it essential to look at the whole person; What is happening currently and how that may relate to past experiences but more importantly prioritizing how to cope moving forward.

2.) Do you tend to lead the session, or follow my lead?

I tend to start the session with the hope of following the client through their presenting issues. The client’s goals are always the first priority.

3.) What are your strengths as a therapist?

My strengths as a therapist lie in my ability to create a safe place for clients and to allow them the autonomy to bring what they need to the session. I am a mix of gentle assertiveness with a nurturing positive attitude towards issues and goals.

4.) If you had one superpower, what would it be and why?

If I had one superpower, it would be the ability to nap whenever the need arises – sleep is so essential to thriving!

5.) What makes you laugh?

I find humor easily and enjoy laughing over silly little random life moments.

6.) Who would you have dinner with, dead or alive?

I would rather have dinner with the dead in hopes of gaining more memories that can last much longer than just the dinner hour.
